Shelby Pediatrics Founding Philosophy
Established in 1991, the founding philosophy of Dr. Eric Siegel and Shelby Pediatrics is to reflect in its level of compassion, patient care, and office policies the philosophy of the most compassionate physician and healer known to man, Jesus Christ. In doing so, the practice strives to represent and demonstrate by its actions the unconditional love, humility, and compassion of Christ. Through its action it pledges to be an ambassador for Christ as it manifests the following principles:
- Awe. I pledge to bow in awe and wonder at the creation around and the creation within us. I will recognize God's great genius and daily be amazed that I have been granted the privilege of being created in the image of this magnificent God. I will strive to love and honor God with all my heart, soul, mind, and body. I will speak of His greatness and proclaim His glory. Without the Father's blessing, as His child, I would be without a lasting hope and an eternal heavenly home.
- Respect. I pledge to respect the gift of a soul and the gift of life. I will strive to bring no harm to the lives entrusted to me. I pledge to fully honor the privilege of healing allowed to me. I will embrace, foster, and promote the innocence, purity, and joy of untainted youth.
- Compassion. I pledge to manifest unconditional love for all people, regardless of color, caste, or creed. By imitating the heart of Jesus Christ, by following His example and by living according to His word, I will be an ambassador of Christian care and compassion. I will strive to overcome anger and conflict with love, patience, and prayer allowing God's word and promises to guide, soothe, encourage, and to heal.
- Humility. I pledge to be humble, empathetic and attentive to the situation of others, considering their needs and feelings ahead of my own. I will be willing and quick to offer forgiveness when misunderstandings arise. In reflecting the heart of Jesus Christ, I pledge to avoid pride, prejudice, and personal judgement.
- Service. I pledge to place personal service and sacrifice above selfishness and ambition. I will seek the good and betterment of others through works of service and edification. I pledge to support the poor and less fortunate in my community and to give generously of my time and resources. I pledge to respond to the gracious and unmerited gift of God's grace in my eternal redemption with works emanating from my joy and gratitude, recognizing that ultimately I am serving not just man, but the risen Lord.
- Growth. I pledge to work toward greater personal maturity, knowledge, and wisdom both professionally and spiritually. I pledge to be an ethical and honest person of integrity pursuing Godly righteousness over self-promoting religiousness.
- Fellowship. I recognize and hold dear the indispensable need for strong, unified, loving families. I believe in the need for community fellowship and accountability. Through these institutions, God models this love for us and further defines physical and spiritual relationships to us. By working together, burdens can be shared and triumphs can be multiplied...a chord of three strands is not easily broken. I will seek to be in the world but not ruled by it. I will encourage others to join the fellowship and to enjoy the safety, peace, joy, and comfort found within.
- Gratitude. I pledge to remain keenly honest and aware of my shortcomings and inadequacies, maintaining a genuine gratitude for the innocent blood shed on the cross on my behalf, the righteous for the unrighteous, my only hope for salvation. I will proclaim this glorious and wonderful enigma. I will speak of how He has blessed and intervened in my life, always being true to His promises. I will patiently respect and trust God's timing.
In our business dealings, Shelby Pediatrics will adhere to or exceed all established pediatric and medical standards for business and patient care. It will strive for the highest quality medical care, meticulously honest and fair financial transactions, and impeccable ethical practices.
Shelby Pediatrics highly values the loyalty and efforts of its staff. Unity in all areas is to be fostered and promoted. Each member, with unique talents and abilities, is an integral and vital part of our Practice. It is a privilege to serve the public. Undeniably, the challenges and demands of such service are very great, when approached individually. Therefore, by relying on a powerful God who promises to accompany, to renew, and to energize us, in association, with teamwork and cooperation, we can give to others.
Shelby Pediatrics holds in honor the trust placed in us by our families as we respectfully treat their children. It is our hope and desire that the foundations built upon trust and respect as a youth can develop into a greater trust and respect for our message and mission as the innocence of youth progresses into the decisions and challenges of young adulthood. We wish to be a positive influence in the physical, mental, and spiritual health of our patients.
Shelby Pediatrics commits to faithfully extol and represent the virtues of Christ. And in all things, we recognize that the glory and honor belongs, not to man, but to God.
